Day 6 in St. Martin

Having gotten the hang of the French side and its custom of closing for "siesta" hours, we set out to go shopping in Marigot (capital of St. Martin) in the afternoon. Also, I had bought a dress on Wed evening which needed altering (the shop owner was willing to do the alteration as part of my purchase), and we needed to pick it up. Aside from this dress, and a new bathing suit, the stores were a little out of my league, either due to their designer price tags (think Max Mara, Cartier, Hermes, and other European designers), or the clothing catering to a lifestyle I don't lead (think partying in the Caribbean)! We did have a good time window shopping; we even walked through Le West Indies Shopping Mall, which in spite of the grandiose name was much smaller than what you and I are used to, but very much fit for an island with its open-architecture.

We then drove to Grand Case, the French village known for its terrific restaurants. Our great food experience was short-lived as M had an allergic reaction to the starter lobster bisque (perhaps it was mixed with chicken broth?). We cut the evening short and drove back... (he was/is fine).
