On Sunday, M and I went to see Jodhaa Akbar, the newest Bollywood release. Ever since our trip to India, I have wanted to do a better job of keeping in touch with Indian movies, news (both pop culture and serious), and my family there. Plus, this movie starred 2 of the biggest names in the industry, and there was eye candy for both of us!
It was 3.5 hours long and yet really didn't seem that long. It was a beautiful story of love and war, and it was very easy to get caught up in the historical fiction, with its gorgeous cinematography, beautiful people, and lovely costumes/jewelry. Set during the Mughal era of King Akbar, it was shot in a lot of palaces and forts, a few of which we had just seen!
The movie is not without controversy in India as the story takes a bit of poetic license. Regardless of all that, it was a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
