It was another traveling wknd for us, and a good 5 day break! We went to DC and surrounding area on Thurs & Fri, and had a nice time walking around Georgetown and doing a little sightseeing. We stayed with my aunt in Oakton VA so also got to spend time with some family. My family from Charlotte and Columbia SC drove up together on Sat, and stopped by Oakton for a quick visit. After a delicious lunch, we all hit the road to Edison, NJ for an uncle's housewarming party (the main purpose behind all this wknd travel). We spent Sat night through early Mon morning in NJ, during which we had the housewarming celebration, visited my cousin SD's very urban condo in Jersey City, and did a bit of shopping at the Indian market-street in Iselin.
While the drive up was broken into 2 parts on Thurs & Sat, the drive back was 11+ hrs in a straight shot. After all this car travel, and the recent road trip to OH for a wedding, I must admit I'm a little tired of road trips. We got on the road around 7:30a, took a quick detour to see where Michael lived/grew up during age of 9-15 in NJ, then stopped by a major temple near Harrisburg PA and finally got home after 8p. We were definitely more tired after this long wknd than going in!
Alas, Labor Day is over = unofficial end of summer, and I'm sad to see it go. I am not sad however, to look at my calendar and see a whole lot of wknds coming up where we will be home!
