Busy, busy, busy!

We were going non-stop for about four weeks, hence no blog posts. But, we are now 1+ day away from flying out and finally able to come up for air. Among other things, during the month of October, we:
  • Spent the first 2 weekends in CLT together; M spent 2 more weekends there alone supervising the movers and getting stuff done
  • Spent the past 4 weekends with my parents and bro
  • Sold a car, and shipped the motorcycle and second car to post
  • Donated a few pieces of furniture, sold a few pieces and put the rest in storage
  • Took our townhouse off the market and turned it over to a property management company for its rental
  • Have spent thousands of $ between Costco, Target, the Indian grocery store, Buy Buy Baby, etc.
  • Shipped thousands of pounds of "household effects" (yeah, technical term) via cargo to post, way more than we thought we owned
  • Shipped thousands of pounds of items into storage, not nearly as much as we thought
  • Shipped hundreds of pounds of items from our VA apartment via air freight
  • Made a ton of phone calls, sent numerous emails, and filled out copious amounts of paperwork to make all of the above happen
  • Sent S to daycare for 1 day so his Mommy would not have to miss work (super strict attendance policy during training) and his Daddy could supervise an unexpected second day with the movers
In the past month, we also said goodbye to family and friends, to our home and hometown, to things we had owned for a long time, and to our old life. We hope we learned a few lessons on how to make this a tad easier next time around. If nothing else, we certainly learned that we need to purge, purge, purge and live with less things that we need to carry all around the world.
